Car Height Difference Front Right ????
I just purchased a 95DX HB and noticed that the front passenger side is 3/4" higher than all others, as measured from the fenderwell trim to the ground (same difference in tire/fenderwell clearance) ?????
May have been wrecked in the past, but very difficult to verify. Any idea what could be causing this? Is there a height adjustment? Thanks |

Re: Car Height Difference Front Right ????
about the only way you would have any height adjustment was if it had some kind of adjustable coilovers on it. run a carfax on it to check its previous history

Re: Car Height Difference Front Right ????
did you make sure to measure the height when the car was on totally level ground without anything in it that could throw off the measurements?

Re: Car Height Difference Front Right ????
idk if u can do this or not but check if ur other 3 springs are showing more wear then that one. mayb its a newer spring then the others bc of certain reasons. i know my cars ride height is diff from the pass and drivers side. my drivers side sits lower bc of the weight of the driver that side has to carry all the time.

Thanks for all the replies - here's some more info.
CarFax checked clean. Tires are all new just installed, sizes are the same. Fenderwell height 25" on other 3, 25-3/4" on odd side. Measured on different surfaces, still checks out the same. Springs look the same, but difficult to tell. I am pretty sure the car has been kept in stock configuration, everything is OEM, appears well maintained. Purchased from a dealer as a trade in, claims he was an accountant, older fella, very reserved. Just had the vehicle aligned, took two visits, but now is fine. I may jack-up the front end and do a closer inspection. Share any additional ideas - thanks much. |

Re: Car Height Difference Front Right ????
when you measured, did you measure from the center of you wheel up to the fender?

No,
I measured from the highest point on the fenderwell trim (black trim lip on fenderwell) directly down to the ground. I also measured from the top of the tire to the same spot on the fenderwell trim, and confirmed the height difference. |

Re: Car Height Difference Front Right ????
Also, take a look at the seams where the strut tower is welded to the frame rail. If the car has hit a curb and some sheet metal has stretched you may notice it in this area, i.e. the paint and filler will be cracked. Another possibility is the bushings could be worn out at the other corners and there is a new control arm on there with new bushings, just an idea but not likely for ¾” difference. You should also check to make sure the spring is seated properly in its perch. The end of the spring should be butted up against the step in the strut perch. Hope this helps.
