Msd

I would like to put in an MSD system so I could get a little better gas mileage along with some more power. The only question is which MSD one should I get. My Blazer is mostly daily driving with a few times to the track just to see what it can do. So who knows which one I want and a good place to get it?

Thanks
David

Re: Msd

Your truck comes with an ignition pack and computer controller that will ignite a completly cold plug, fouled with oil in a sea of salt water. (Okay, an exageration, but it's good, stout stuff) Trust me on this, unless it is failing, there is no reason to change or upgrade the coil pack or ignition system at all. The same stuff drives the largest v-8 blocks GM makes. The biggest improvement you can make that will give you a tiny bit more pep would be to swap your plugs for a set of AC/Delco Rapidfire platinums. Otherwise, modding out the ignition system with bigger and more complex computer controls is just tossing money away, IMO.

Re: Msd

Perfectly said, the stock system can fire a 454 so there is no reason why it can't handle the 4.3L.

Money can be better spent elsewhere.

Re: Msd

IMO, a good exhaust and intake is very reliable way for your Blazer to run better. Some folks have had good luck with "chips" but I have no first hand experience with them.

Well the thing is I already have a good exhaust and intake and am looking for a little more. Anyone got any ideas, I am going to install new spark plugs and that may help a little bit. Anyone also got any feelings about the "chips" for our trucks, good, bad?

Thanks
