emissions ?

yeah I just typed this whole thing up then my computer froze and I don't feel like doing it over again so I am gonna try to condense this...

say you put a 454 from a 69-70-71 Chevelle into like a 93 Camaro, this would fail inspection because it won't pass the new emissions standards, correct?

is there anyway to get around this, with some adjustments or something, or should you just hope you don't get caught

not saying I am doing this, this is just a question that came up when I was talking with my friends earlier today...

HOT ROD did an article on this a few years ago. depending on what state you live in, it is illegal to put an engine from an older car into a newer one even if it meets emissions. most places don't bother to check engine stampings, so this isn't really an issue. if you're gonna go non-emmisions, you should know someone in the emmisions biz. with others, all it takes is a few extra bucks.... i haven't dealt with this directly though..... just what i've heard and read

ha ha ur screwed..u live in new jersey. They already do IM240 testing there. Ur better off hopping up the Lt-1 or Ls-1 with emisssions legal speed parts.

"no officer, this is a 454 from a 97 chevelle, honestly"

heh. i live in arkansas so i say screw emissions. as long as u got street legal tires and lights youre good to go. no i take that back i see cars cruising on slicks every 2 or 3 weeks. and a lot of peoples lights dont work so.. i guess as long as it looks like u at least made an effort to be legal then youre fine
