JDM DC2 steering wheel in a 95 civic ex
Hi everyone,
I am wondering if anyone knows anything about putting a JDM ITR steering wheel in a 95 civic. I bought the wheel thinking that it might be plug_and_play but its not. The wheel physically fits on the column but the airbag plug is different. The wheel is supposed to be a direct fit for all USDM ITRs and supposedly 98+ Integras. I was told to splice the plug but I don’t have enough info to feel comfortable about that. If the voltage, amperage, or polarity is any different between the cars signals for airbag deployment the airbag probably won’t work correctly (This info is impossible to find). I was thinking of changing the SRS reel but I was told that it might be more complicated than that, OBD1 vs. OBD2, might be a problem. Some people have suggested to remove the airbag and run just the cover but I don’t want to do that either. Does anyone know if there is a safe and reliable way of hooking up the airbag? If not I will probably sell the wheel. Thanks http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/628654 |

Re: JDM DC2 steering wheel in a 95 civic ex
Update
The OBD1 and OBD2 SRS reels are physically incompatible and the wiring is not even close, not a big surprise. Another interesting observation is that the OBD2 reels orientate exactly like the OBD1 reels. Arrow points 12:00 and the reel plugs come through the back of the wheel at the 4:30 position not the 6:00 position the JDM wheel needs. So much for plug n play. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/628654[/quote] |
