Heavily considering an 01/02 Dakota

Since my old car finally bit the dust, I've been in the market for a truck. I'm taking an 01 Dakota Sport Ext. cab 4.7L automatic for the night, and might judge on it tommorrow. There are also a few 01/02 Dakotas from various dealerships I have my eye on, all under 60,000 km. I've heard form a few friends of tranny problems in the Dakota, and I've read a few bad stories on these forums as well. Bt I've also heard great stories form Dakota owners. Since I do a lot of stop/start city driving, I'd be looking at the auto transmission.

Just want to do as much research as I can before I go ahead an plunk down my cash on a new vehicle. My father is a heavy duty mechanic, but isn't too knowledgable on newer vehicles, and he hasn't heard anything about tranny problems. Hopefully someone here can help me out and get the most value for my buck. Thanks!
