Question Sentra & Premium Gas

I have been looking at a 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, and i read somewhere that Nissan recomends that you use premium gas. Is that true? I live in Iowa and we have the ethanol (gas made with corn?) and it has a rating of like 87 or someting, our premium is only 91. So I wouldn't think that 4 points would matter too much.

I know that with the new Eclipses (2000+) the GT and GTS requires premium to run properly- it states that in the owners book and back of the gas lid.

But I was just wondering if they needed premium or not- thanks in advance for your answers!

Yes, you do need premium gas for all 2.5-liter Sentras. If you read carefully, the minimum grade is 91 (in California), but the recommended grade is 96 (illegal in California). Basically, putting anything less than 91 will result in lower gas mileage, HP loss and knock and ping noises. Hope that helps.
