Question 2004 Malibu Maxx LT, help on minor problems

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and wanted to say thanks to having a great forum!

1.) Anyone experiencing the hatch opening qay too quick. I open the hatch and it shoots up and shakes the entire car when it stops.

2.) Cd's get stuck in cd player and you cannot even play other cd's until the problem fixes itself so you are stuck listening to the radio. Once I drove an hour to Illinois and the cd player was still stuck and wouldn't play any cd's on a humid day. That wasn't good at all. This happened more often when it was hot and humid out. I live in WI so now it's very cold and it doesn't happen as much. Should I still have it checked out or wait until it happens again.

3.) Steering wheel feels loose and shakes over bumps. It feels like the steering column shakes a little while drivinbg over bumps. Is this normal?

4.) Right rear speaker hums a little bit when listening to talk radio stations and you urn up the volume. Could the speaker be blown?

Otherwise it's a great car overall. Love the inside DVD player, leather/microfiber seats, heated front seats, rear sunshade. They could have a navigation system optional. I think this would be a great idea.

This is my 8th chevy overall and never really had any major problems. Knock on wood!
IF anyone could reply with some help it would be well-appreciated.

A hum is usually is a bad ground somewhere in the amplifier or input. It could be the amp in the trunk or the head unit itself, definitely not a blown speaker.

I have a nearly-loaded Maxx LS (no DVD or 6-disc) and here's what I've got:

1) I haven't noticed the hatch popping open too quickly, but have had trouble closing it. It's due to the compression of air inside the car. Also, if you pop the hatch using the driver's door button, and then close the driver's door, the hatch will pop up and then slam closed (but not lock), so you must use the touch pad on the gate. My oddities are common across-the-board.

2) CD player. Have had no problems, but have been listening to XM so much, I haven't used the CD player much. I have heard of problems with the players and there might be a Service Bulletin out on it.

3) I assume you know that there was a rash of power steering failures on vehicles produced through approx. 2/04. Don't know if your issue is related. Check the sticker on your driver's door to check your manufacture date.

4) Rear speaker. Mine has no problems.

Hope this helps.
