helping a buddy's S4

He bought himself an 86 body with an 88 engine, and still using the 86 ecu. "that's What they told him . I haven't seen the car yet. and one of his problems he been having during his ownership of the fc, is that it flood from now and then.... so questions is are S4 ecu the same or or what is the code for each year model, etc etc, or you guys think it might be a leaking injector??
