disable alarm/security system?
hi,
is it possible to disable the alarm security system?? i noticed a few weeks ago that my 92 PA SC has lights that come on during the night for about 30 seconds each time.. and seems to be going on like that all night at sporadic intervals.. and tonight i noticed that its not just the normal interior lights that come on, the lights where the keys hole are on the door light up as well.. and if i turn on the lights myself from the inside those key hole lights don't come on at all.. i noticed that they DO come on when i lock the car..sometimes.. they do it once and then when i try again it doesn't work.. so the alarm system is kinda F$%?& up actually... i tryed disconnecting the battery all night..to reset it... the night after that it started again any ideas? deadring |

deadring,
In the event that your security system computer is at fault, you can get one from GM Parts direct for I think under $150, if I'm remembering correctly. It is located right above the passenger air temperature mixing actuator, which is located right behind the glove compartment. You can just open the glovebox and remove the rubber stops to move it out of the way, and you can then look at the GM part # on that security computer. I'm sure you could also get one at a junkyard for less than $50, as I'm sure they're not in too high a demand. Just call around off of numbers from car-part.com. Hope this helps; I don't know how to disengage the security system, sorry. kaspr |

Re: disable alarm/security system?
well i read in the manual how to arm it and see what happens when i open a door with my hand.. nothing.. it does work...and the little lights that open around the keyholes on the doors when you press the door button from the outside ( you know, to see where is your key hole to get the key in) doesn't work neither..although when it DOES woprk its supposed to light the keyhole lights and the lights inside... so when i do see my car with the lights open for about 25 seconds, it's a glitch on the car that make it think someone pushed a button on one of the front door handles...so i know it's eletronic.. one thing i dont know if its the seurity black box or the body controller..im gonn abuy myself a chilton manual this week end and check it out in the wiring diagrams.
and another thing, i tryed arming the secutriy system.. the thing that you "lock the doors with the remote and THEN close the doors" its arms up, i can see the sucurity light come one for about 30 seconds.. just like it says in the book... it just dont flash the lights and the horn when i trigger it..dunno why its either a body controller or a securty system box.. im arming it every night to see what happens. and from what i seen so far, it seesm to NOT make the lights open at night by itself.. SEEMS.. i cant just stay in the window and look at it.. but i will test it out tonight. since we get darkness here around 4:30 it wont be hard. ![]() deadring the way i think i could disengage it |

Re: disable alarm/security system?
nope.. still there.. but i found something.. the driver side door has been replace before i got the car.. it has a few glitches in it and i noticed that when i push the door button hard and make slip my finger of it, the lights around the keyhole will sometimes light up for about 25 seconds.. so im thinkin my problem is that swtich. coze it does exactly what im doing when i push the button...
ill try to open the door sunday to see if i can fix or cancel it.. either way, it has to stop. i hope opening the insde door isin't too complicated ![]() deadring |
