'95 grand am no dash light, no chime
A couple weeks ago my dash lights, and the chime letting me know my headlights are still on when the car is off stopped working for a few hours, but unexpected came back after I checked the fuses. As of yesterday though, neither is working at all. The dimmer is up. Any idea what happened or what's wrong?

Re: '95 grand am no dash light, no chime
i would bet you have a bad headlight /multifunction switch. It's a common problem on Grand am's. you might want to check to make sure all your other lights work. IF the switch is bad, you may not have taillights or brake lights either, and that's DANGEROUS.

I think you might be right, I have no parking lights or fog lights as well.

Re: '95 grand am no dash light, no chime
I work for a Delco distributor in Flint Mi, if you can't find this switch locally, I can sell you a Delco one for around $70+ shipping, depending on whether your car has daytime running lights and/or cruise,

Does the ACDelco switch consist of just the park light/headlight switch, or the entire assembly, which includes the turn signal arm, headlight switch, and hazard lights?

I'm having the exact same problem!!!! Did you get it fixed?? If so, what was the problem and how much did it cost to get it fixed??

The problem I had was the turn signal assembly. The part cost about $70, and got it at a local parts store.
You can be sure that's the part you need if you do not have parking lights. Turning the switch for parking lights is also when it turns on dash lights and the chime for your lights. So if you're missing all three (the chime, dash lights and parking lights), the assembly is your problem. Supposedly you can fix the assembly simply be cleaning the connectors for the headlights inside the assembly. I don't recommend you do this; when I tried I found myself with springs flying everywhere as I took it apart, and never figured out how to put it back together. |
