WANTED: 1/12 Testors Countach

I watched one on eBay yesterday but missed my chance at bidding. It ended at $142.50. I remember this kit in advertisements back in 1988 or 1989. I still have one of my first Road & Track magazines from back then that show this kit being offered by Testors. I want it, I want it, I WANT IT!! Somebody please help me find it.

wtf $150 model. Better enter it into a competition and win for that price. Course that F50 model is like a grand, so this isnt as bad.

Re: WANTED: 1/12 Testors Countach

This kit looks remarkably similar to a Doyusha Countach LP500S. I suspect one is a rebox of the other. My brother has the Doyusha version... we're going to build it some time. It's quite nice.

These seem to be somewhat available too. Check google. Here's one I found on there. http://www.internethobbies.com/inter...112lamcou.html

I cannot vouch for this site... it's just the first one I found on google.

Re: WANTED: 1/12 Testors Countach

I did see the Doyusha pop up a couple times during my search, too. I may end up getting it if I can't find the Testors one. It's more a nostalgia thing for me to try and find the Testors kit though being that I always begged my parents for it back when it was new.

Re: WANTED: 1/12 Testors Countach

When that kit was released in my early teens I paid $50 for it with my hard-earned money. I couldn't get the paint to stick and my dad, being an auto bodyman, helped me prime it at the shop. After priming it we went to a car show. It was really hot and the model was in the trunk. When we came back the whole body had warped beyond recognition. I don't know what happened to the rest of the model, maybe it's still in my parents' basement somewhere.

$140, not a bad appreciation curve considering the size and the detail this model has.

Yes, you can build both version with that kit, the LP400 and the LP500S.

I have two model, one is 'in progress', the second will be built after

Here is some picture from my model:

I have now to finish the paint of the body, i will do it black for a Lp500S version

This kit as been made by eithre Testor, Otaki and Doyusha. It's the same kit for each version!

An incredible kit YEARS ahead of it's time. I started building the Otaki +20 yrs ago. I still have it unfinished but still salvagable (too much time for me). Recently I got the Doyusha. All three are the same kit. So, which came first, Otaki, Doyusha or Testors? Anyone? The Doyusha and Otaki come up pretty often on e-bay under $100. Anyway I'll be starting mine pretty soon. Still undecided about the color. Any suggestions? Are there any progress threads on this kit?

Re: WANTED: 1/12 Testors Countach

Thanks for the PM Joe, I'll be contacting you shortly. I did begin to receive offers for this item from eBayers that saw my earlier bids for it. One guy in Omaha is offering it for much less than the final auction price. Another guy is offering me the Doyusha kit for even less than that. My decision will eventually come down to price since I already double checked the feedbacks and they are both great sellers with at least 99% rating.

And one of them did say what others are saying here, the Doyusha is the same kit. For some reason those are still fairly easy to find.
