Cooling Fan problem

I've tested the fuse. It's fine. I bought a new relay switch. Still didn't fix the problem. What would be the next suggested step in locating the problem of my camaro's cooling fan not coming on? Also I'm having problems with the vents not working w/ AC and Heat (floor and defrost vents work). I've seen other posts regarding this. But my question is, could these two problems be interconnected? Or are they seperate issues?

Re: Cooling Fan problem

well it could be your temp sensnor in the passenger side of the block it could be bad and need replaced though its very cheap. all though i relplaced the fuse, fuseable link wire, relay, and temp sensor and mine still wont come on unless i turn my air on so im stuck riddin around w/ my air on low all the time!! i guess ill have to search the past posts on how to put a manual switch in huh.

Re: Cooling Fan problem

try hard wiring the fan to a 12V source, if it dosnt turn on, then your fan motor has burned out. it needs to be replaced.

Re: Cooling Fan problem

then put a new motor on very simple and do it yourself i did and when u bolt it back up make sure the fan spins freely otherwise it will burn another motor up but before u go buyin another moter check the fuseable link wire first and make sure it not burnt up its attached to a post on the side of the radiator and if the wire is original it should be a brownish orange or a rust color i belive

Re: Cooling Fan problem

what about the test that 89 told you to do? did you try hard wiring it to the 12v source just to see if you could get it working at all. if it works on the 12v source than its prolly a temp sensor or maybe something else. if it doesnt work off of the 12v source than you need a new motor...

Finally put in a new fan motor, and low and behold it works... well sorta. It only comes on when the heat or air conditioner is turned on. I'm going to try the temp sensor and another relay now and change that out.

Re: Cooling Fan problem

I read some of the other posts and came across one talking about radiator hoses and if they are hot or not. All of the hoses are hot except for the bottom one, when I started it, the bottom was cool to the touch, it wasn't as cool, but was far from being hot. Can that tell what part of the problem is? Also where is the temp sensor located? I've seen posts where some say its on the passenger side and some saying its on the driver side. The only thing I see that looks anything like it has been on the drivers side. Can anyone post a picture with it so I know if that is exactly what I should be looking at?

Re: Cooling Fan problem

There is two , One right next to you rthermostat housing for Temp I believe and the other for block cooling control is on the Right side ( Passanger side ) down by the starter. Should be the only thing plugged into the side of your block with the exception of a dipstick - You can't miss it.

Re: Cooling Fan problem

So you are saying its on the driver side? With the one of the passenger side being block cooling control? As far as the hoses, i was wrong, they are all hot, first time i tested it i just let it run, this time i drove it around the block and every hose got hot.
