First Win!
I won my first race today (well, technically yesturday)! I think this made my 9th time of driving the race car (pictured below) ever. It was also my first time in the finals!
What makes it even better is that me and my uncle finished 1 and 2 today. This was the first time that both of us have been in the same race as well (he used to drive the car pictured, but has turned it over to me, and now he has another car-Red Vega, very similar to the one pictured). Here are the stats from the run (local track, racing distance is 330 ft, and its a .500 base tree): Me (My Uncle) Index: 4.46 (4.19) RT: .501 (.481-red light foul) 60 ft: 1.557 (1.436) 330 ET: 4.496 (4.220) I think he may have red lighted on purpose; he won't admit to it, but I think he may have. Either way, it was cool that we both made it to the finals, especially since it was the 1st time we have ever raced together (and it was his first official race with the new car, he had only made 3 time trials with it before, so today was like the 10th time down the track for him in this car). And also, that .501 reaction time is my new personal best (.503 was my previous). The run before that, my uncle nearly had a perfect run: Index: 4.20 RT: .501 60 ft: 1.43x (can't remember the last number) 330 ET: 4.205 He was just .006 seconds from a perfect run, which is awesome to say the least. The best I've ever done is .012 (Index 4.49, RT: .512, 60 ft: n/a, 330 ET: 4.490).

I'd also like to break into the 4.30s too, but I doubt that happening since we've moved to day racing. A new set of slicks would do the trick though, lol. Ah well, I've got alot of goals to shoot for. I'd like to get a .500 reaction time (had it happen against me my first ever weekend of driving, lol, I still won the round though), I'd like to go an entire weekend without red lighting, and I could name a lot of other things, lol.

Get rid of that dinosaure powerglide and put in a turbo400 with a brake and a different gear then go run a 1/4 mile. I garuntee you will love it even more. Oh ya, did I mention to get rid of the power glide?

The only thing that runs the 1/4 at those tracks are the trophy class cars. The powerglyde is perfect for what I run, and even for the 1/8th because you don't have to shift it. We have an electronic shifter that knocks teh car into high gear at whatever RPM you want. That helps make the car more consistant, which is what bracket racing is all about. Now with that, I would love to drive in the 1/4, its just nobody does it that's close to me (not even at the Super Chevy Show in Bristol, they even run the 1/8th). I think with a gear swap, the car could make the 1/4 with the way its set up. It's got 31x14 inch slicks, so I think a .488 or .456 gear would let it go the 1/4.

Re: First Win!
Congrats on the win ... such a short track though
![]() ... as for the redlight, I bet he didn't do it on purpose. From what I have seen, people are much more likely to red light against friends/family.

Re: First Win!
For those that like 1/4 numbers ...
Chevy ran a 4.496 in the 330. I typically hit 4.8s .... so I am sure he is into the 10s

Yeah, for people that like 1/4 times, this car will run high 1.4xs in the 60 ft. on new slicks, high 4.3xs in the 330, and run 6.70s in the 1/8th at somethign like 101-102 mph. This made my 9th or 10th weekend of driving it, and my best is 4.439. This engine was freshley overhauled at about 1/4 of the way into the season. My uncle drove it at that time, and he ran 4.39 with it on its 2nd weekend of being in the car. Of course, the slicks weren't wore as much then as they are now, but its good for low 4.40s the way it is now, and with new slicks, it woudl be good for high 4.30s. About red lighting, I know it sure is easy to do, shew, lol. I don't really know why both cars run off as much as they did though (especially his, becuase he had been dead on every run before that). I know in my semi-finals run, I peddled the gas 3 or 4 big times and ran 4.476 on a 4.47 out of the same lane, and he said he just lifted completely before the line on his semi-finals run and went 4.205 on 4.20. I'm thinking they either didnt glue the track, or they glued it, and didn't let it set up long enough before we run.
