Question Help on BMW 740i 1994 AC

Hi, I have recently bought BMW 740i 1994.

I need someone to help on the following:

1. Sometime during a long drive I see fog coming in from the AC vents why?

2. Sometime during long drives say after 50kms the AC stops working and while adjusting the thermostat nob it starts again or sometimes it starts automatically after few kms. Why this could be?

3. I tried all the combination of making CAR AC fresh but the air from outside still comes in which means if my car is behind another car fumes of that car comes inside and it is too much suffocating with the AC on. So Cold air but dusty and populated air! Why this could be?

4. Can I download the BMW 740i 1994 Model Manual from the Internet?

Please reply,

BMW740i

I believe the symptom with fog from the A/C vents is caused by the A/C drain line being clogged up, the one that drips water to the ground. Try cleaning that out and see if that helps. Also look at Johan and Sean's website, http://bmwe32.student.utwente.nl/ The A/C and heater stuff is called IHKA.

Your car has a cabin air filter (called a microfilter) which can become quite filthy and thus the air from the vents not really fresh. Here's a link with instructions on how to change it: http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_2.htm, along with many others.

I couldn't find a link for an owner's manual. Repost your question at www.roadfly.org for more help.

You say you have "fog" coming in when you run your AC? If that fog smells like hot antifreeze, you also may want to have your heater core checked. A faulty one can sometimes cause that.

This place does repair and return of swords and I've heard good things about them and it would be much cheaper to repair than to replace.
http://www.programainc.com/

Also, this site has instructions for removing the sword (among many other things). Look for "Microfilter change". http://www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_2.htm
