what size fuel pump?

i have a 95 talon tsi im asking for 550cc injectors, and a walbro fuel pump for christmas. i plan on putting a 14b on the car and later on down the road a 16g. my question is should i get the walbro 190lph or the 255lph? wasnt sure if the 255 was to much to run with the 14b or not
p.s. if this means anything i might be getting a safc2.
thanks

Re: what size fuel pump?

you'll need the safc2 in not a diffrent fuel computer to compensate for the added fuel. if your not going to be going largere then a 16g. i'd stay with the 190. the 255 upgrade does not required to get an ajustable fuel pressure regulator, but it is highly recomended. ether way, rewire your fuel pump when you do it.

good thread that explains a bit about flow.

Re: what size fuel pump?

so if a get the 190 it requires an ajustable fuel pressure regulator, and the 255 doesnt? and will it hurt to have the 255 if i have the safc2. i just dont want to end up going bigger later on and having to buy another on cuz i didnt get the 255

Re: what size fuel pump?

you "wont" need a afpr for the 190. you "might" need one for the 255. but you "will" need a way to controle the extra fuel the larger injectors will put into your combustion chamber. if your planing on going larger then a 16g, buy the 255hp, afpr (one that allows you to decrease fuel pressure), fuel pressure gauge, safc2 & pocket logger or dsmlink.

Re: what size fuel pump?

I feel that a 255 should definitely get an AFPR. Its not worth having jacked up fuel trims and other odd behaviors, spend the 2-300 bucks.

Doing some quick figuring, it seems that at a target AFR of 11:1 and pump gas (Specific Gravity of .76 assumed) and 22 psi boost, the 190 matches the 550s at 100% IDC almost perfectly. About 130 LPH and 40 lbs/min supported airflow. An EVO 16g has the potential to go over 40 lbs, but anything smaller should do fine with this setup.

BUT, if you think there is any chance you might go bigger someday, go big on fuel now. Get the 255 HP and the regulator and be done with it. It will cover 950s at low boost (25 psi) and 850s to 35 psi. And yes, if you change injectors to anything nonstock, you need an AFR type device to compensate, no way around that (exept injector compensated chip, etc.).
