Unhappy Cadillac Pills?

I changed out my radiator fluid yesterday. I used dex-cool, distilled water and some stuff called Mac's 1300. It is an additive that came highly recommended by a retired auto instructor.

I was also told I should put in some "Cadillac Pills." I got some concentraited Bar's Leak pills but I am now thinking I should wait and put in the specific "Cadillac Pills."

An archive on this site said to crush 4 of these and put them directly in the upper hose.

Can't I just crush them up and put them in the plastic reservoir?

Re: Cadillac Pills?

I would not recommend any additives other than the GM supply only "pills. They are actually crushed almond shell. Bars leak and other products should not be used unless they say they are speciffically designed for dex-cool systems

Re: Cadillac Pills?

Bars Leak Gold is what you are looking for, it is made from ginger root and will only harden when exposed to oxygen so it wont plug up anything. It is a tan colored tablet that you crush and put in either hose. Don't use the metalic stuff. Do not put it in the resevoir.
