horsepower, exhaust, and removable tops

Hey, new to the thread, getting a 3kgt base or SL in jan. i just had a few questions, how much horsepower can you get out of these and still keep it NA? Also, i was looking at the borla catback exhaust, does it sound good? i want a full exhaust thats gonna sound more like a V8 than that damn honda rattle! Does anyone make headers that fit them? and is there any way to convert the hard top to a T-top or Targa top?

thanx in advance

Re: horsepower, exhaust, and removable tops

Most of the aftermarket exhausts will give a good low tone like a V8 (I like borla and am going to get one once I get a VR4), your not going to sound exactally like a V8 since our engines rev a bit more so the general frequency will be higher. I've never heard of or seen a T top conversion and the Spyders weren't produced during the first gen.

Re: horsepower, exhaust, and removable tops

Lol you know this constant referal to the FAQ won't work, they tried it in the honda forum when people asked for info on turboing their civics and eventually had to stop refering them to the FI forum and made their own lol.

Re: Re: horsepower, exhaust, and removable tops

There is no official targa conversion. There are however like 3 or 4 people that have done one. There was a sweet ass blue one at NOPI in Atlanta that someone posted pics of over on 3si. Its a project that could cost well into the thousands.

Tagra tops would kinda weaken the frame no? I heard the roof has structural bars which make up some of the ridgity of the frame. in a n/a you could get it up to 270hp and 370 with nitrous. check out the "n/a bible" in the FAQ thread.
the borla is nice but it does have mufflers, needless to say it will "muffle" some sound. if you want it loud as hell get a coustom catback and replace the cat for a testpipe. Shorty makes headers for our cars.

check out www.3sxperformance.com and www.3kgt.com for more info on tunning an n/a.

Re: horsepower, exhaust, and removable tops

The thing with weakening the frame is widely debated. The roof structure is actually pretty weak on our cars. It is a very thin peice of metal. But if you are willing to take on a prject like this you would take things like that into consideration. I am sure it would be possible to weld up subframe supports like offfered for Mustangs and such.
