Increasing Fuel Efficiency - 95DX
How can you change a 95 DX from 40mpg to 50mpg?
I know this is the opposite of what most desire, but can you mod the engine with a head swap for improved efficiency. Thanks |

Re: Increasing Fuel Efficiency - 95DX
umm.... getting 50 mpg out of a dx might be kind of hard but i wouldn't doubt you could get some better mileage out of it
some people claim that a good intake and exhaust wont give you an increase in mileage... i disagree with that theory. if you were to get a decent free flowing exhaust and an intake with a K&N filter you could probably squeeze out a little more mpg. I believe the VX engine gets better mpg than a DX

Re: Increasing Fuel Efficiency - 95DX
Yeah i actually measured my gas mileage before installing my exhaust and i noticed about a 2mpg gain over what i had with just an intake, and that was with me driving like more of a jackass since i was happy with the sound. Just be careful on how you drive it, and that doesnt mean shifting at 2000 rpms because if you have to have the throttle open too far you might actually get worse mileage shifting soo low, so id say 3000 rpms is the magic number in your case

I have a 92 DX w/ 211,000 miles and get 41 mpg. Not sure you will be able to get more. I adjusted my valves and got a 4 mpg increase. Do you have stock tires? I have 16's during the summer and 14's in the winter. The mpg should go up because of the thinner tire but in the winter the car takes a little bit more gas, so it evens out.
