Re: Leakage diagnostic pump?

I'll look up that code but I really don't trust 'generic' test equipment [scanners] even for OBD II problems. The leak [if there is one] really requires a smoke generator to find.

Did they clear the code ? ? ?

...By the way, because a fault is logged with a component name, it doesn't neccesarily follow that part is at fault......just a note.....

Be back weds............

well actually after the light came up i replaced the gas cap and its been 5 days that the light is on

Do you think its a fault code stored in the dme and has to be cleared by the dealer only

other than that it runs fine

and also do the gas tank always pressurize its self at every start?

everytime i fuel i don`t get psstt, sound meaning i have no pressure in the tank

thanks for your help jeffreyb4me

Re: Leakage diagnostic pump?

Sorry for the delay, most OBDII faults like this are 'hard' faults, a 'generic' scanner might do it, a MoDiC II or GT1 [both BMW units many independent shops use] will clear the fault. While the gas caps do fail to seal, another common cause [if it's a leak fault, BMW does list a 'P' code 1477, but 1476 & 1478 are close]......try and have it cleared and monitor it for a day. It will take two 'complete' drive cycles for the system to test 'itself' after clearing the faults, also, incase this might apply, you won't pass an emission test in most states with a stored code OR an OBDII car that hasn't completed two drives cycles after a fault erasure.
