Question More horsepower out of a 4cyl?

I just recently bought a 97 wrangler SE. The only reason I bought the four cylinder is because money is an issue right now because I am in college. Once I graduate I plan on upgrading to a 6cyl, but for the time being I was wondering if there was an easy, economical way to squeeze more horsepower out of my little 2.5. I have heard a few good things about the AiRaid intake system. Is that really worth the money. What are my other options? Thanks for the help.

There is an old hot rodder's saying: " speed costs, how fast do you want to go" ? Even though you aren't looking to turn your 2.5 into a road rocket it will still take a few bucks to get her to breath easier. I would start with good air intake system, exhaust header and cat back system. The key is to get more air into and out of the engine. I suggest a visit to quadratech.com, they have everything at reasonable prices, fast shipping and tech. support.

I agree with the exhaust upgrade-get you engine breathing well-at both ends-upgrade your air intake-put the rest of the $$$ in the bank-when you are ready for a 6-sell your 4 banger-don't put an engine in it...don't mess with any chips or fancy snake oils-K and N breather a good cat back

try taking of the fan and mouning an electric one on the back of the radiator (see www.quatratec.com) you can get one for around $250 and it will free up a few more horses from the engine.

I also agree with the K&N induction system and cat back. The raven systems at your local midas are probably the best flow for your buck.

Put A Snorkel On It So You Can Get The Ram-air Effect, Get A Header, Full Exhaust, And Dont Get A Venom Module.....total Waste Of Money. Also Get An Electric Fan.....my 4 Cyl 5 Speed Moves Along A Lot Better Because Of All That.

hey POS, ram-air doesn't work. Sorry, its been proven. For ram air to work at all, you have to be going about 500 MPH, and have an cone on your intake with the narrow end facing OUT. yes, OUT.
