96 metro 1.3
I was given a 96 with 106,000 miles and a loud rapping . I replaced a rocker and put a longer bolt in the rocker arm that was stripped out. That made it quiet down.
The car sounds great and drives fine but I am wondering if anyone knows if the timing belt is safe for anothe 6,000 miles, I want to wait until spring to replace it. The clutch seem a little soft but it has not slipped , do these cars have a soft clutch? How many miles can you put on one of these clutches? The only new parts I see are front rotors and calipers. The rear brakes look ok, How many miles the the rear bearings last? I know this is a lot of questions but I want this car to last this winter as I live in Syr NY and it is too cold to work on the car outside after October or if I get lucky 1 or 2 weeks in Nov. tanxs Zog |

Re: 96 metro 1.3
baby the clutch and it will last 125K, if you are hard on the clutch it can affect the timing belt as well, I would replace the timing belt asap if you know that it is original, Geozukigti reccommends replacement every 60 K I think. and yes they have soft clutches it took me weeks to get used to it from a 'vette v-8 heavy clutch.

Is the timing belt a straight forward job?
I mean are there any quirks I need to watch for? |
