1993 Astro AWD ABS Module bad, help!

Hi, I have a 1993 Astro with a bad ABS Module. The shop said $1,400 to fix it. Any suggestions? Thanks for any info!

Yes at a junk/scrap yard, but it's a roll of the dice on what your getting, could be shot already and most are cash and carry w/ no returns, especially on electrical parts..

Guess I'll go without for awhile.

Listen, you don't need abs. Trust me. Abs is a luxury item only. I'd just leave it unhooked. Mine has been unhooked for about 10 years and I have never had a problem.

Yea, just don't slam your brakes. That's the reason ABS is installed on almost all vehicles now because people don't know how to control the pressure they put into the pedals. Just remember, don't slam your brakes.

No, problem for me. But I'm a little worried about my wife. Just don't want the thing sliding sideways on her. This is our first Astro, so I' am not familiar with its handling at all. But if you say it shouldn't be a problem, I won't worry about it. All our other vehicles didn't have ABS. I just thought maybe it was something that was needed on these vans. Thanks for replying and easing my mind!

Thumbs up

I live up here in Osceola, WI. and both my 93's have the ABS disconnected, just gotta remember your drivers ed training, pump the brakes repeatedly and steer into the skid should it happen.

Re: 1993 Astro AWD ABS Module bad

I am thinking that my ABS might be bad on my 93 Astro as well. Is that pretty common with the Astro?
How can I tell for sure that the ABS doesn't work?
If it is bad, is there a way to disconnect it on my own?
Thanks,
Eric
