Thumbs up B16 is in! Couple of Q's tho

Hard to believe its the same car. Mucho quicker then the old motor, suprised myself a couple of times. The car scoots! Anyway, I had a few questions to those of you who know... First off, vibrations, pretty significant too... what can be done to lessen this? Sound deadening material? Also it seems like it sits pretty far foward compared to the old motor, is this how its supposed to be? Third, anyone know a good AC bracket that's reasonabley priced and does its job? Right now my stock AC compressor's just tied up in the engine bay, looks a little scary sitting there like that. Also, there is a pulley in back of the engine near the alternator, it looks awfully close to the metal on the right side (when facing the front of the car), will this cause problems with rubbing and premature wear??

Re: B16 is in! Couple of Q's tho

Vibrations are permanent.. Get used to it. Sound deadening won't even help it. Its from your mounts, they make the motor resonate throughout the car.

And ya, the clearance in your engine bay will be pretty minimal on a lot of things, but since the mounts don't move much you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

What mounts are you using? What tranny are you using?
Congrats on a fun swap.

Jim.. You gotta understand the vibration people are noticing when they get whent they put the B16 is a result of all the aftermarket mounts using polyurethane mounts. Its a lot more solid than rubber and doesn't dampen much vibration from the motor at all.. So you FEEL it.

You know, the shop said "pro fab" or something like that... the mounts are blue ...? Anyway, the tranny is an S1, no LSD . Driving this thing takes practice, eh? I keep chirping 2nd and 3rd on accident. My car also sits too low now (about 1/2" lower than before; i was already lowered on tein springs), will getting stiffer springs/shocks help this? Another thing is anyone know where i can get an sir gauge cluster w/mph rather than km/h? (No tach, i have the STD hatch).

Re: B16 is in! Couple of Q's tho

Never heard of pro fab.. Get some pictures up!

Driving with the S1 is funny. As soon as your rolling you pretty much need to be in 2nd.. I cruize at 50km/h wich I think is around 30mph in 5th gear all the time. Highway driving is crazy.. 5,000rpm and up pretty much all the time.

Your car height problem can only be solved with taller springs. Just deal with it, being lower is better.
