What direction does the engine come out of a 1991 cavalier 2.2?

Well im going to the wreckers on the weekend i hope to remove an engine for my 91 cavalier 2.2 litre rs, but i was under the impretion that once it's dissconested it lifts right out with the hoist.


I was told today that it might have to drop out from the bottom instead of being pulled out from the top.


Any 1 know what direction it comes out?

u can actually take it out either way. i prefer to manuever it out of the top.

Oh thank gosh cause i was just not ready for another set back. So how long do you think it will take me and my mechanic friend to pull it out?

We are going to bring all the tools and i hope we don't forget anything cause that would suck.

Can you please tell me what needs to be dissconected in order to remove the engine?


What comes to mind to me would be:

1. All the hoses

2. All the electrical

3. Dissconecting the engine from the transmition.


Is that pritty much it? Oh ya cause i only need the engine the wrecker says im going to have to dissconect the transmition from the engine or pay more

Man i hope i can get this done in 1 day.

its a hell of alot easier to pull moter/tranny together,and then take them apart;just throw tranny back under hood or in car, wrecker shouldnt care , u just saved him an hour;....hoses,wireing harness,radiator, axles,moter mount bolts,shift linkage(if pulling m/t together),...and pull engine.

oh yeah , & , if u have never done this before then it may take a few (3-5) hours. if you have then it can take any where from 1-3 hrs.

good luck... but taking from top seems to be easier.
