Turns off while in reverse

My 95 Contour, while in reverse turns off to where its just the radio is on, I will turn it off completely and try again and it will do it again once or twice. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it? Thanks.

Can you give a little more info about your car? V6, 4 cyl, manual, stick etc...

Re: Turns off while in reverse

Check your battery cables especially the positive cable and the positive cable that connects to some remote positive cable terminal. Just trace the battery terminal cables connections and make sure they are tight.

Sometimes when the gear is moved in reverse or forward, it also moves the engine slightly if the motor mounts are weak. The engine movement might be enough to make the electrical cables not 100% in contact but just enough to supply electricity to low power accessories.
