Re: name of 94 civic stock engine??

if you want to turbo go B18B, if you just want something that's decently fast out of the box go for the B18C

Re: name of 94 civic stock engine??

What if you go turbo with the gsr. Would a turbo b be faster than a turbo c1?

Re: name of 94 civic stock engine??

depends on setup, how much boost each is running etc. Off the line the B18 would get it if they were running the same setup. After that it's kinda up in the air. But the B18B is more boost friendly cause of it's lower compression.

The LS needs vtec and N/A? Umm, okay. Thats your opinion, the LS/Vtec is one option, regardless of whether you like that option or not. However, the LS is one of the most boost friendly honda motors, in that regard what it NEEDS is boost. Thats the general rule on why to go LS, go LS for boost. The lower compressor ratio is more turbo friendly. It's less prone to detonation becuase of this, detonation can kill a motor quick.

turbo a b18c... puts down nice numbers... just remember to rebuild it to a lower compression, like around 12:1... High comp + high boost = BOOM.

Umm, I think you had a little bit of a typo there...

If he raised the compression that high, he'd blow the motor in spectacular fashion.

I think you ment Lower the compression, to like around 8.8:1.

werd...if I were to do a frankenstein I'd do a B20VTEC, but even with that I wouldn't be completely confident that my shit would be running 100%. Like I said before, B18B for turbo, B18C if you want something fast out of the box. Still boostable, but only good for up to 10 psi with GOOD TUNING, and depending on turbo.

Ummmm (DOHC) VTEC engines are usually running a 16:1 compression... 12:1 can handle 4-5lbs, and the magic number for high boost is 9.1:1. The LS blocks have 9:1, and the B20 blocks have 8.6:1.

Re: name of 94 civic stock engine??

lol...are you serious. 16.1, you'd have to run like 150 octane gas.

DOHC VTEC motors have like 10.1 to 10.6:1 compression. With 12:1 compression you would be able to run like 2-3psi, so what's the point in even turboing it.

LS motors have 9.4:1(JDM) and 9.2:1(usdm) compression ratios. B20's have 8.8:1 compression, JDM and USDM.

B18B and B20 motors can handle nearly 12 psi. 12psi is going to do a whole lot more than 2-3 ever will.

You really need to get your facts straight before you start post BS like this, especially since you are a mod, should be setting examples for everyone else. Not posting false info like a newbie know it all.
