race headers

How much louder do race headers make rsx's. I have a type-s with a injen cai and i wanted to add some race headers but i am afraid it will make my car sound like shit. I have an aerospeed exaust on it now and it isn't very loud, so i have some room to work with i guess. just let me know your opinions.

Re: race headers

It will increase your sound. By how much is a matter of testing.

Re: race headers

Sorry, but just a suggestion. Its not an Arospeed exhaust, its an Arospeed muffler. Which means its only for sounds and looks. Switch for something that gives performance or if you get the headers and its too loud (don't you have to get a new exhaust with race headers anyways?) get a 5Zigen fireball. Although I dunno if the 5Zigen is compatible with the RH.

Your airflow's only as good as its weakest component...theres no point in getting headers if your don't have an exhaust to keep up the airflow

Re: race headers

Yup. A muffler does diddly-squat.

Changing your muffler is like getting a penis englargement, but still not being able to get it up.

Re: race headers

ok..chill on th muffler deal.. but i have read that exausts on rsx's aren't worth the money because you only get like 2 or 3 hp from it?

You only get a minimal amount of horsepower from adding an exhaust on any car. It's the way you use it in conjunction with other parts. For example, a car with a high flow exhaust that has the same diameter as a high flow cat, header, and intake will produce better gains than a car that doesn't have the exhaust but has the other parts. It's not about how much you gain from the parts separately, but about the way they work together. So if you get a race header, your car will be louder, but your gains probably won't be that great, probably just as much as just adding an exhaust would be.

Re: race headers

Uhhhh about the gains on the header. No. You'll get a lot more than an exhaust would. The highest i've seen an RSX exhaust get on a stock engine is about 7 whp. I've seen the DC Race Header get over 15whp.

But yes, when put with other mods the exhaust will have a greater effect.

Oh, well I have no experience with the RSX I'm going off the experiences I've had with Integras, because with i/h/e you'll only put out 10-15whp if that on an Integra

Yeah, those B-Series motors are, sadly, not very responsive to mods like such.

Re: race headers

I have a 97 integra gsr I was thinking of getting race headers as well. I have an Apexi exhaust and short ram Injen intake. I wanted to get the DC Sports race headers, will it be a good conjunction with these parts and isn't it illegal?
