1991 Lumina fuel troubles
Replaced fuel filter, still won't start. Is there a test to see if fuel pump is working? Also do I need to bleed air from line after replacing filter? If so how is this done?

Turn the ignition to the run position and listen for a buzz. If there is no buzz then you have a problem. First place I'd check would be the relay.

Theres usualy a feul pump test wire under the hood. Youd have to get a haynes/chiltons manual to find out where it is though. You feed it 12V and the feul pump should cut on. This feeds power straight to the feul pump, so if it cuts on when you give the test wire power, its either a fuse or the relay. Gotta find out where the wire is first though. Dont go lookin for every spare wire you can and giving it power straight from the battery. Thats askin for more trouble.

I.D. the fuel pump relay, and swap with another that has the same numbers to check it. That's usually the problem. There are usually three or four relays together that are identical.

Re: 1991 Lumina fuel troubles
if the pump is operating, you need to test the pressure at the fuel rail. There is a valve near the throttle body, attach a fuel pressure guage to it and with the key on, engine off, you should have 31-35psi. if not, pinch the return line. If the pressure rises with the return line pinched, you have a bad fuel pressure regulator, if it doesn't your pump isn't putting out enough pressure and you need a new one.
