Trys to stall when warn start
Guys,
Bless you all for this forum. I haven't been here in a while so I wanted to say that real quick. The problem I have right now, is when the truck is warm, when I go to restart it from a quick stop the idle bounces for a few seconds and then stabilizes. This never happens when it is cold, only after it is good and warm. EGR? IMG? Thanks for the help!

the bouncing idle sounds like an IMG, that's what mine did. Is the CEL on?

Fuel injection temp sensor? (If the rodeo even has one, an Oldsmobile I used to have would do the same thing - sensor replaced, problem went away)

I'd check the idle air control valve first (IAC). 1993-1999 3.2/3.5's have them. It's mounted on the side of the throttle body. It's a motorized valve that bypasses air around the throttle plate to maintain idle speed. Often they stick with dirt/carbon. Throttle by wire on 2000+ did away with IAC.

No CEL, I will take a look at the IAC. I need to clean my EGR anyway, sounds like a good time to do it all at once. I will let you know what I find.

Try this next time.
turn the key on. count to 10 and then start it.

I always wait for the fuel pump to finnish pressurizing the system before I start it, doesn't seem to make a difference in this case. Also only happens after the engine is good and warm. It always stabilizes after a few seconds of reving.

Wow, what a difference a clean EGR can make! Pulled the TB and sure enough the EGR was completely blocked. Cleaned out the tube, scrubbed the TB clean, cleaned the EGR valve. Now she runs perfectly, idle settles very fast, no more reving. As always thanks for the help guys!
