just a note- it's harder to switch out newer engines from hondas because you have to have all the evironmental stuff intact (IE OBD II, etc...) and also afaik you have to have the key cylander and sender module to get the ECU to work (antitheft etc...) may be wrong though.

if you don't even know what obd means, why are you asking about a swap? give us a break, geez, we all know you couldn't even change your own spark plugs, so why do you ask a question that you wouldn't understand the answer, no matter how simplified we tried to make it for you?

Your best bet is a '94-'97 B18C1 GSR motor if you're looking to do this swap. Your car was designed for OBD1 and the motor you're thinking of is OBD2. The swap's possible, but there's extra sensors, wiring, and a different ECU to factor in to change your car from OBD1 to OBD2. OBD is basically just an environmental system and the second generation ODB had more junk to it. The '94-'97 GSR motors are OBD1, so it'll be less of a headache to install.

As for which motor is best, well that's something entirely different. If you really want to know which motor to get, you have to look at one thing and one thing only: what is your ultimate goal with the car? Drag car? Reliable daily driver? Really friggin' fast? Moderate gains in power and handling? AutoX?

Have to figure out what you want to do with it in the long run and then build your plan from there. The B18C1 is a strong motor though - a good upgrade for your Civic.

Re: 98-2001 GSR B18C best swap for my 95 ex?

Well you're not your dad so don't talk shit. All you've done is prove that you're an idiot and talk shit to people over the internet. Like I told you before do a search and find out for yourself what you need to do for the OBD conversion, if you can't do that much on your own then you have some serious problems and don't belong here. My advise to you is to leave the forum and come back when you grow some pubes little boy.

You would have gotten help a little sooner had you not come on here with your immature attitude. You come here insulting people and not many people will be willing to do anything other than bash you.
