supercharger shootout

im planing to suppercharge the stang{95gt}. the two blowers i had my eye on were the ati procharger and the vortec. they are both the same price basically but i saw a magazine with a 700rwhp {20psi}2004 cobra. the only mod was the superchager{maybe exhaust or somthin but basically stock i cant remember} so the prochager seems impressive. i no my car cant take 700 hp and 20 psi but its still bad ass. i was lookin at the kenne bell twin screw blower two i really am not sure. and will i need a new hood with a kenne bell or will it fit. thanks for any info you have form experiences or somthin you read or whatever. and if you want to steer me in a new direction im open for ideas thanks

Re: supercharger shootout

It all depends if u want that power when u put ur foot down then get the kenne bell but if u want the boost to build then get the vortec. Kenne bell is my fav. supercharger heard many great things.

your going to have a traction problem with any supercharged stang running on street tires but the kenne-bell reaches full boost at about 1700 rpms were as the centrifugal superchargers have to spin much higher to reach full power the kenne bell replace your upper plenum and if your willing to spend the money id go with that one or an intercooled ATI

Re: supercharger shootout

Yeah the kenne bell is going to be harder to lunach and have traction bc as blue said it makes full boost at 1700 so when u lunach around 2500 ur gonna have all the boost and its gonna take more skill to get the lunach off cleanly. drag radials are gonna help a bunch if u can my i recommend geforce ta kd's for the back tires. i have read that they provid the best pure street tire traction with out being a drag radial.
? you have a 95 gt on the kennebell website i didnt see a kit for 95 mustangs. i could of missed it though.

Re: supercharger shootout

yep theyv got one one there i just looked last night perhaps its a new one. oh well thanks for the help cna anyone explain the psi thing and if i change the fuel sytem can i run more? it says u can only run 6psi due to detonation not the limitations of ur other parts so im assumin with new injectors/pump i could go to 8-10 right?

My latest edition of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords tested an 04 Cobra with the Whipple supercharger (same used on the GT40), exhaust upgrade, chip, and CAI, and it went from 352 hp to 603 hp.

It's a given that, with a factory supercharged engine, you will be able to get more gain from upgrading the supercharger; the engine is built for boost. 5.0's usually respond well to 'chargers, but you won't see gains like the '04 Cobra got with just a supercharger, and the engine certainly won't be able to handle it. From what I've seen, 5.0's are phenominal with turbos. And, if traction is an issue, the fact that a turbo has to spool will keep it from blowing the tires away too bad on a launch; if you still do have a problem, there are always boost controllers. Also, it's very easy to upgrade a turbo kit.

Depending on how many miles are on your GT, you might need to freshen the engine before adding boost. Also, with some basic suspension mods to get you out of the hole, you will see a phenomenal difference in performance without changing anything under the hood.
