Swap?
Ok, here's the deal...I have come across an 88' Prelude Si 4WS. The stock engine (B20 A5) seems a bit small, considering it only gives 110-120 Hp at 5600RPM. Can someone please help me out here and list pretty much all the crap I can possibly do to it? (largest engine swap, best charger, headers, etc etc)

The bigest engine you could fit would be a B series engine. If you are going all motor, go with the B18C5 (Type R) or the B18C1 (GSR), if you are going to boost it go with the B18B (non vtec, lowest compression). Now go do some research.

Re: Swap?
Please read this and help me if you can!!!
I rebuilt my 1988 prelude engine and am having problems with mixture! It is a B20A5 engine, fuel injection 2.0l. Symptoms: With no check engine light: -runs rough -as soon as it hits 3750 rpm it has a definate iBIG JUMP in horse power!!!! -smells like it runs rich After check engine light comes on: -runs better!!! -no big jump in hp @ 3750 rpm -does not smell as rich Apon rebuild I replaced the o2 sensors with new NGK o2 sensors, new distributor cap and rotor, plugs(platinum), ect... please help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The biggest thing I noticed is the gain of HP when the light is off (weird)????? Could it be the o2 sensors ...egr valve??? pcv valve???? I confused???? Thank you Steve |

I would look into moddin that engine first unless you have serious cash, a b series swap like b18 b16 ect would cost tons, and yeld not a big gain, the car is so heavy and those motors have no tourqe it isn;t worth it not to meantion the custom mounts wireing ecu etc. You would spend over 10g's on this project, Most people looking for a sway go for the h22 lots of touqe and power, and cheaper only like 6g's to get every thing done there are mounts for it also. Still expensive, just go turbo for around 1500 bux you can install a custom turbo setup and have tons more power and tourqe. Just food for thought this isn;t a civic you can;t just thow anything inthere for nothing. |

can't I just pop in a B18 C5 like that other guy mentioned? It seems like the premiere choice beause it doesnt need special counts or custom fixtures like the H22. (isn't the B18 C5 the largest engine that doesnt require you to force in there?)

I just recieved my JDM B20a today. There isnt alot available for it but it has 146hp vs. 135hp the B20a5 has. And it will drop right in without any major mods or cash. There are some parts available. The head and intake can be moded. If you need the info where I got it PM me. The motor looks great (like new) and the place i got it from had it to me in 4 woking days. Its worth looking into

The cheapest way is to buy some APC stickers and a muffler. But then you wont be able to dyno test due to mucho HP. Just kidding around friend. There isnt a whole lot available cheap for the B20a5. You will have to dig deep into your pockets and pay for some good mods or a swap. |

Re: Swap?
With these cars the cheapest easiest power is turbo visit preludepower.com there are several members there that are turbo, you can't just buy a kit for these so everything must be fabricateed to do this. They will tell you everything you need to know there, this mod averages around 1500 depending on how into it you are.I have bee running turbo on my 88 for nearly 2 years now and am very pleased with the results.

Depending on the milage of your lude you may have to rebuild your motor before you add the turbo. Its a good idea anyway. I have a good block for sale has 98k on it.
