Cool Replacement 4x6" for P10--Which ones?

I need to replace my front 4x6" speakers in my 93 G20. I'm running a Alpine 40Wx4 head unit and the entire car is rewired to bypass the factory amps. I'm assuming that a 4x6" plate is better than regular 4x6" speakers. I'm looking at either the Infinity Kappa 4x6" plate, Infinity Reference 4x6" plate, or the Polk Audio 4x6" plate. Like I said, currently it would be running directly from the Alpine head unit, but I might add a amp later on, probably something like 40Wx4 or 50Wx4, so I'd prefer speakers that could handle that much. Thanks :smoker2:

Plates sound great with great sond but they have little in the bass department. I like the Infiniti Kappa plates the best. I like to feel a little bass up front so I choose to put regular full 4x6's if you are going to to amp and sub later , get plates and the sub will take car of the bass. Mostly go to Best Buy or whatever and listen for your self....

Cool 4x6 speakers in front

just a note on the use of plates... they will give you great highs- but no mids

if you are concerned with imaging and you don't want to spend the bucks to put in kick pods, you MAY NOT WANT TO GO WITH PLATES... reason being that your speakers won't put out as much mid bass as a 4x6.

because for that lil plate, you're gonna have a 3'' mid and a lil tweeter, the sound that it'll produce won't be that much at all... the tweeter will work great, and your trebles will be ear splittingly high, however- it won't be balanced with good low frequencies from the 3'' speaker.

best route- get kick pods and get a component set down there... something like a 6'' and a tweeter or a 5.25'' and a tweeter will be good...

alternative- just go with the highest quality 4x6 you can find and be sure to run thicker gauge speaker wire from your new deck or new amp to the speaker... (i still have to run the new wires)

this will keep you happy.

i know you have to run thicker speaker wire because the factory wires are just ridiculously thin.

has anybody in here been able to fun another wire between the cabin and the door speaker?? i NEED TO DO THIS because my amp is putting out more power than the factory wires can handle.
