I need to replace the turn signal switch on my 98 tahoe and would greatly appreciate any help. What I need to know is the procedure for steering wheel removal w/air bag. I have posted this question before and had no response. Is it that no one will talk about airbags because of liability reasons? If so please let me know. I was a ASE tech till 92 and need help with this please. I have found a site that I think has the right info but would like to know if it is correct before doing it.If you can confirm the procedure I will e-mail you the link to the directions I have to confirm that they are right. Please only respond if you know. Thanks.

Re: turn signal switch 98 tahoe?
TOOLS: 2 #2 flathead screwdrivers, steering wheel puller, and lockplate remover. Using a small makeup mirror or some kind of mirror, look behind the wheel to find I believe to be 4 slots. Use the screwdrivers to insert into the slots to disengage the locking bars which retain the airbag assembly in the steering wheel. Before that though, disconnect the yellow airbag connectors underneath your dash, as they are clearly marked. Use the steering wheel remover for the obvious. You should then be able to separate the two halfs of the column plastic to expose the turn signal switch. This is the procedure for my 96 z71. I believe it is the same for you. The airbag should have a shunt build into the connector to keep static electricity from building up and possibly deploying the airbag. But I would disconnect it for safety anyway.
