What's with......?

Is there something about the nissan guys that makes them want to take on a 5.0 without so much as a 10hp cold air kit cuz i've destroyed 2 (240sx's) in 2 days by mid 2nd gear.

this isn't a question i'd ask in here, tho... or even in the nissan board for that matter. or anywhere. it accomplishes nothing and often starts flame wars, which just causes bad feelings and hurts the reputations of those who post in here. it's not like most of us don't get frustrated with people trying to run us with cars that we know to be slower, stock for stock, then those we drive. but we've found that it's best to keep it to ourselves.

i like to let them have their fun and then laugh to myself when they make excuses =)

Just consider it easy kills, and don't trip. It don't matter if they drive a vett or a vw........

That is fairly right in a way. My 86 is so so off the line, but is slow from 50+. Remember that most 5.0s came with 2.73 gears in the rear so it makes them real slow at acceleration, so they aren't 1/4 mile monsters. The tall gears though give them a great top end speed.

that's what my car ran with cold air and underdrives. '89 5.0 lx auto. the 2.73 rear makes it suck, as well as the gummy, inefficient, poorly shifting AOD. with a t-5 swap (planned) and 3.73s (also planned), it would run mid 14s.

Dude I think you'll be running more than mid 14s. I'd expect low 13s to high 12s (12s not on street tires).

that would rule, i just don't wanna set my sights too high, so i won't be disappointed. before i can do the trans swap i need to rebuild it. if it's not already a world class (i think it is cuz it has brass blockers) i'll make it one.
