Question I need some help with the fuel tank lines?

Ok here is the problem, I already did the new harness for the fuel tank of the 98 eagle talon tsi awd to be compatible with the 95 gs-t cables, I test it and it works great, i modify all the mounts to hold the tank under the car everything is ready, but the problem is that when I was trying to mount it I found out that in the side of the "fuel pump" I have 3 hoses coming from the engine bay and in the fuel tank only 2 inlets (actually one inlet and 1 outlet) I need to mount the tank as soon as possible cause is the only thing that is stopping the project, I thought that in the Hayness repair manual I could find the answer but I can't find the manual anywhere, if someone know it I will apriciate his help.
Thanks.

Re: I need some help with the fuel tank lines?

There is the feed line (to the filter) that is a rubber line with self sealing fittings.

Aside from that my 95 has a return line (from the regulator) and the vapor recovery line (to the charcoal canister under the battery on some models and under the drivers side ehadlight on others) and another line to the driver side tank (gas is syphoned over by the return line fuel flow). Hopefully I didnt screw that up, its like 5 am.

Hope that helps.

take the fuel pump holder out of the GST's tank and use that that would have been my first thought instead of wiring it all up like ya did!

Re: I need some help with the fuel tank lines?

You dont want a fuel cell, my setup is just over 800 bucks The smaller one would most likely be the vent line to the charcoal canister. I dont see how the tank cant have a fitting for that, its required by law. Can you take a pic of the tanks fittings?

Re: I need some help with the fuel tank lines?

Well, you said you need the car back right? All you really NEED for the car to run is the feed and return hooked up. I cant think of a reason why you couldnt drive it like that for now, then get the pic to us in a couple days to see what the hell is going on with the rest.

Re: I need some help with the fuel tank lines?

I thought that it was like that, one of the hoses is the one that take the fuel to the front (thiker one) 2nd hose is the return of gases (thiner one) and the 3st one is the one I have to hooked in the fuel tank
So basicaly I need to hook up the 1st and the 3rd one, and the 2nd one is only return of gases, nothing happend if I let that one unpluged.
Is that right?
Thanks Kevin "you are the man"
Anyways I'm going to post some pics on monday I think.

Re: I need some help with the fuel tank lines?

Yes, I would guess the biggest one is the supply (it has the fittings anyway so you cant screw that up), the next smallest is the return, and the evap could be the smallest. I though the return and evap were both 1/4" on a 2g though. Make sure you get the right one, leaving the return unplugged will dup gas on the ground when the car is running. Like 2 gallons a minute Good luck.
