1992 Lumina Speed Sensor
My speedometer is not working and my cruise went out at the same time. I spoke to a guy that works on trans and he said that it was the speed sensor. I have another car for parts but I don't know exactly what to look for. If someone could email me some pictures or expain exactly where the sensor is I could change it myself.

Re: 1992 Lumina Speed Sensor
that year the Lumina came with three transmissions. A 3-speed, and two 4 speeds. They all take different a different VSS, but all three are located near where the passenger axle shaft goes into the trans. The way to identify the 2 different 4-speeds is to look for a vacuum modulator. One is electronic and would not have one, the other is vacuum and uses a modulator for shifting. IF your two cars have the same trans, then you can scavenge it from yorur parts car.

Re: 1992 Lumina Speed Sensor
Thanks so much for your answer. It will help me locate the piece that needs changing and hopefully everything will be okay so that I do not have to buy the part.
