In Progress - 59 Impala Hardtop
Deeply missing the blue '59 Impala convertible I built and sold, I decided to build a hardtop in the same style to try and top it. Some Cherry Brandy nail polish, a set of Pegasus Hobbies Bellagios, and a few dress-up and go-fast 409 parts from an AMT/Ertl '62 Bel Air/Impala later, I came up with this.

Re: In Progress - 59 Impala Hardtop
Nice. Is it finished yet? I don't see any taillights, but either way, sweet build!

I love it! The stance is perfect and those wheels are killer!
Great undercarrriage detailing too. Good job so far with the chrome application The rear 3/4 view is just awesome! |

Re: In Progress - 59 Impala Hardtop
Sexy whale tail! Those rims suit the car very nicely.
More and more people are using nail polish.

Looks very good! Is nailpolish strong?

Okay, here's the answers to the questions so far
Turbo Monster - No it's not finished yet. The engine still has a ways to go and the interior is only partially competed, plus there's still about an acre of chrome foil left to apply. Geofroley - Well, depends on what strength you're asking about. I use nail polish on my slot cars and it doesn't flake if you've got a good lacquer primer underneath. If you're talking about the fumes, then yes it's pretty strong. Same as lacquer paint. I keep a window open and it doesn't get to me, but it's recommended that you use a respirator.
