Service vehicle soon light came on

Started my car yesterday and the "Service Vehicle Soon" light came on and my power windows, power sunroof, and climate control (everything: fan, A/C, rear window defogger) didn't work. Also, when the key was set to "Accessory", everything that should have worked at this setting (i.e. radio, wipers) worked fine. However, when turned to "On", absolutely nothing worked. Disconnected battery for a few minutes, then reconnected. "Service Vehicle Soon" light was off and windows, sunroof, and climate control worked again. But I was informed by a former GM engineer that the problem would keep recurring. Any ideas/suggestions? Also, the 1st two settings on my blower motor don't work. I understand it is the "resistor". As my car is no longer under warranaty (> 70k miles), can somebody provide detailed instructions on how to replace? Thanks in advance!!!!

Re: Service vehicle soon light came on

I would wait until the light stays on all the time to get it fixed. I wouldn't pay until something has permanently stopped working.

As for the resistor, its loctated under the passenger side of the dash. There are like four screws you need to remove and the panel will come off. Under that panel is the blower motor and the resistor pack. I've never done this before, but there is a thread here that talks more in depth about this repair.
