Heres my dyno run...

1st run (blue) max power = 160.4 hp max torque 144.9

2nd run (red) max power 160.6 max torque 142.8

And below is my air/fuel ratio which shows my car is running super rich is causing me to lose HP. I have bosch platinum plugs in there and the guy told me they were junk and that i shouldnt put anything but NGK's in. My only engine mods are a short ram intake and a ractive exhaust. If its not the plugs causing it to run so rich what are my options to fix this? vtec controller?

Uhhhhhhhh..........good job. lol There is a comment for ya but seriously that's pretty impressive man, also about the platinum +4 bosch plugs, I have some also in my Lude and I was wondering if what you said about them came from a reliable source cause I mean I payed like 30 bucks for the four of them.

Pretty standard curve. That's right where I would expect it to be. Stock manual 4g VTEC & 5g ludes usually put around 165 to the wheels. What gear were you in for the run?

You could probably get a few more ponies and maybe a slightly better MPG by running a piggyback a/f controller like the Apexi VAFC to lean out the fuel a bit.

Dump the +4 plugs. I'm embarrassed to say I got suckered too - I don't know what I was thinking. It took about 2 months before one started to fall apart (ceramic seperated from the metal). Went back to the stock NGK platinums - couldn't be happier. Heard generally good things about the iridiums as well (both Denso and NGK).

How much would iridiums run for price? and what kind of horsepower increase?

thanks fritz.. thats the kind of response i was looking for... And to answer your question I was in 4th gear on the dyno.

any ideas on why it would be running so rich to begin with? . I was thinking it could be a couple of things. first, the plugs... i'll be getting NGK's by weeks end and I havent changed the fuel filter yet either... the car has 78k on it and its probably due. i bought it with 56k on it 2 years ago and i dont know if the previous owner ever changed it.. i always assume the worst case. i just changed the wires/cap/rotor a month ago. so that should be fine. and I think the injectors are dirty. hence my question in the tech forum about fuel system cleaners. I'm hoping that once i get all this done it will balance out the system and i wont need an vafc controller.

are vafc's really worth the $300 that they cost?

At startup and at WOT. I don't think they're pretty stoich at part-throttle when the engine's warm.

They engineer this richness in to help keep you out of detonation, particularly if you get a bad tank of gas, or are driving in very hot weather. If you lean it out with a VAFC, be a little more wary of these problems.

4bidden - What do you mean by "worth it"? They work as advertised. The Fields controller is a little cheaper but less adjustable - but those two are about your only choice for an H22 VTEC & A/F controller.
