newbie with clutch issues

I have a 2001 jetta vr6 with 58k and I think that my clutch is going out. When I accelerate the revs jump way more then they should. Two thousand miles after my warranty(certified used) is up. I was wondering if it is definalty my clutch or could it be something else? Also, if anybody in the seattle area knows a good mechanic. I am new to the area. I am planning on taking it to "Clutch Doctors"(cheapest) who want $475.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff
