2000 problem with power locks
Newbie- first post- have a 2000 windstar and the power locks on the 2 front doors started acting up. Drivers side especially does not always work either locking or unlocking with remote or from door panal. Same trouble with passenger door only seems to be not as frequent. Everything in the back seems ok. Got extended warranty (only 38,000 miles! so far) but they tell me electrical stuff is not covered. WHat do I expect for $25,000- crazy! ANyone with help or ideas on how to troubleshoot. I pretty good just need directions...

Re: 2000 problem with power locks
I've got the same problem, and worse now. Since around 40k miles, the power locks on front 2 doors haven't worked consistently. Now, at 53.5k miles, with the Windstar off the horn beeps off and on, and the gages cycle zero to max back and forth several times any time I use the FOB or the power lock switch on the door. The dealer hasn't solved the problem after three extended visits. Looking for help targeting the problem. Thanks to anyone who knows!

Power Lock Problem
I have a 2000 Ford Windstar with 37,800 miles and have been having problems with my driver door power lock for some time. It works very inconsistently with either the remote or the inside door button. Now, just today, the driver side slider door lock won't open or close with either the remote or the inside button.
Any news on how Ford plans to fix this problem would be appreciated. Gina |

Windstar door locks
Same problem with mine. The dealership says the actuator needs to be replaced. $55 part. $235 for part and replacement. Still using the key manually.

Re: 2000 problem with power locks
Same thing happened to my 2000 Windstar. Took it to the mechanic and it was the actuators that were bad. Luckily, I invested in an extended service contract that paid for the whole thing for the driver and passenger side.
