Engines that fit in a 300zx(91-96)

I am considering buying a 300zx. However I was thinking about it, and since most of the 300zx cars out there are 90k+ in miles, is it even worth it? I am still strongly considering getting one, but if the engine gives out on me, what other engines would fit in a 300zx? I have heard that some people have gotten 200k on their z32 if properly taken care of. I think I would be lucky to find a z32 that someone has taken care of though.

well...i dont know really know what your asking.

the 300zx in n/a form will probably last the 200,000 miles pretty easy as long as it wasnt ran without oil, beings that the vg30de was meant to handle forced inducted 300hp.

the TT is what you need to watch out for. if it has been really beaten on or overboosted or abused in any way it will give out sooner or later. just ask broke as ****. lol. jk broke.

for engines that will fit in the engine bay, anything that you can think of will fit but the most popular is VG swaps. you can swap in RB series engines with some customizing. rb25det probably being the easiest. some guy on here is talkin about swapping in the vh45de (infinity series engines).

Nothing is wrong with the VG engines! If you are really worried about just rebuild it!

I did not say they were bad engines, but come on man. It's still a machine, and machines wear out. The 300zx is a very very nice car, but around my area, most of the 300zxs that I find have 90,000 miles or more on them. As for rebuilding an engine, im not that knowledgeable about rebuilding engine blocks. Sounds like a pain.
I read somewhere that the Nissan Quest uses the same engine as the 300zx, is this true?

A pain? Then you definately do not want to do a swap! As for other VG's in other car's... they are not tuned the same! So don't use 'em!

Yeh your probably right. I wouldn't consider doing a swap until I find a good mechanic, and learn more about engine parts. Good and trustworthy mechanics are hard to find these days.

if your engine gives, buy another vg from a company like sgp or z1, they get them from japan and they can rebuild them for you. thats what i would and will do.

Thank you Mr. Iviadrft. Rebuild it, and when you do put ARP rod bolts along with forged pistons, a underdrive pulley and light flywheel, unless it automatic. If it's automatic use a HKS ALC II, a set of hedders and 2 1/2 exhaust, Pop intake and a good programed ECU. Make sure you keep your base timing at 15 degrees, and you do a good 60,000 service on the engine. Hate to see you blow a good rebuild.
