Buying 98 s10 pickup - All advice welcome

I am about to buy a 98 s10 pickup, single cab, 2.2 4 cylinder,
80k miles for my daughter. Blue book value $4895, paying $4400.
Other than a few minor dents and dings, the truck seems to have been
kept up pretty well. I welcome any and all comments.

Thanks,

Thanks.

It is always scary buying a used vehicle.
Appreciate the opinion.

Yes recommend.
Just bought a 98 also and very happy with it. 93K on it and runs smooth and sturdy. Paid 3K for it. Only problem is the "Service Engine Soon" light stays on but think it may need sparkplugs/wires replaced.. Any suggestions on the latter?

I own a 98 S-10 with 75K and it runs great. Very happy. Have not had any problems. Sad to see the low value, though...

Thanks,
Treat it like it has never been maintained. Don't trust the person if he says everything is new. Replace it for yourself.

1.) New Air Filter
2.) New plugs (AC Delcos: Gapped properly)
3.) New Wires
4.) New cap and rotor if equipped
5.) New Fuel Filter
6.) Coolant Flush and fill with Dexcool.

As said before, do all of these for proper maintenance.

Don't assume they have been done, do them all yourself.

The 2.2 liters seem to last a life time if you want them to. A lot of people have examples of 200,000 plus on these motors with only minor repairs, if not just general maitenance. Watch the tranny if its an auto, maybe think about a flush and fill, or just a drain and fill (sometimes you don't wanna flush high milage trannys, the tranny shop will tell you what they think). If its a manual, the clutch should still be good for a good while still, unless the last person road it like a grandma.
