Re: gas smell in oil.

any car's oil will smell like gas a little if it isn't changed in a while. And since you have a turbo on your car, its getting a lot more fuel thatn normally. A little of that combustion is going to get past your rings and into your crankcase. Thats why you have a PCV valve. to get rid of the vapors, but regardless the process of the combustion gases getting by your rings will leave a gas like smell to the oil. and if your compression is low (compression check as suggested by civic killer) it will smell even more....

Re: gas smell in oil.

that sounds like a good explanation. For some reason my pcv valve makes a loud humming noise. I just replaced it 4-5 months ago. Its been doing it since i put it in.

Re: gas smell in oil.

do not buy pcv valves from an auto parts store. They make one style valve and apply it to 5 different cars. each car has a specific pcv valve it needs. it really comes down to the pressure in the spring. go buy one from the dealer.

Re: gas smell in oil.

i did purchase mine from an auto parts store, i guess ill never do that again. They want like $25 for a genuine honda pcv valve. What do you think about this one.http://www.secureleadercom.com/exsto...nuStatus=block
