Hi, I have a 2001 Ranger Edge. Normally it starts fine. Today is one of the few occassions since January that it acted up. When I put the key in and turn to start it sounds like it wants to start but just quite won't. It usually happens after driven and then shut off for about an hour or so when I go to start it. Hasn't happend the first start in the morning. IF I try to start it and it won't quite turn over I press the accelerator to the floor and it starts right up. I just don't want to have to keep that up. Any body have any ideas I appreciate your guidance.

Re: Any ideas on a starting issue???
If the starter is turning over the motor and it sounds normal, but won't catch and start and then pressing the gas pedal makes it start, it sounds like a bad idle air control valve. Replace it.

Re: Any ideas on a starting issue???
Hey thanks for the response. I'll give that a try. Any idea on how much the part costs. When I try to start it, everything sounds normal but it just won't quite catch.
