problem

i just replaced the alternator on my car, everything went well... anyways, when i started the car it was idling extremely low. so i adjusted that, and the problem appeared to be fixed.. well after i let it run for awhile, it started to idle high, but not too high.. still was close to normal, but then it would just start dogging out, and act like it was going to shut off.. sometimes when it does this, it doesnt shut off, other times, when it does this, it just shuts completely off.. also when i start it, i have to give it a lot of gas to keep it up and idling... otherwise when i first start it, it almost feels like its going to die on me again.. i need help.. i have replaced so much on this thing, and i have no idea what it could be now... could it have anything to do with the throttle cable being stretched due to its age? i know that i had to adjust it as far as it would go just to get it to idle right..
thanks

Re: problem

Sounds more like the fuel presure regulator and they are not cheap! i bought a used one they are so expensive. there is a test for it in the haynes manuals.

Re: problem

well, see, when i start it, it wants to shut off almost right away, and it will shut off if i dont give it gas for a good 2-3 minutes... after that then it seems to even out pretty well, but then after idling good for about 2 minutes, it starts to idle really low, and starts sputtering, and then if i gas it, its fine, but if i dont give it gas it cuts out...

Re: problem

sounds like its your oxygen sensor or your iacv (idle-air-control-valve). try this...get a can of carb cleaner, hold the throttle open a little, take off the intake tube at the throttle body, and rev it and spray the carb cleaner into the plenum. this will clean everything in there and might fix the problem. hope this helps.

Re: problem

well.. the car is done at the shop, and the shop that it was getting worked on at referred me to a nissan specialist because they cant figure out what it is.. they said that sometimes it runs great, other times it runs like shit.. the computer didnt throw up any codes, MAF was fine, throttle fine, fuel pump fine, fuel pressure fine, o2 sensor fine.. everything was fine.. this really has me irritated.. lol so i probably wont find out what is wrong with it for another 2-4 weeks...
