fuel pressure regulator

i heard there is a test to find out if my fuel pressure regulator is working properly.. everytime i start my car, it idles fine for about 30 second, and then it stalls on me.. if i keep giving it gas it stays running, but sounds like it is going to cut out on me every now and then.. i adjusted the idle because at first it seemed as if it were idling too low.. but now, it idles where it is supposed to but still cuts out on me.. i cant adjust the idle any higher seeing as it is far as i can go.. if anyone has any idea as to what this problem is, or how i can check my fuel pressure regulator, and where its at, what it looks like. id appreciate it.. thanks.

Re: fuel pressure regulator

some of the obd1 nissans have an idle adjustment as well on the ecu. i cant remeber if the sentra does. but anyway try adjusting it up. also check all your vacumn lines nissans runs like shit with a bad vacumn. also check to see that the MAF is good and that the MAF wires are in good shape no exsposed wires. A badly wired or bad MAF will cause the vehicle to do similar things your car is doing.

Re: fuel pressure regulator

As for checking the fuel pressure the only way I know of is to buy an in-line fuel pressure gauge. installs in minutes under the hood. It should tell you your pressure. Should be like 45 or something. If you decide to buy a gauge, make sure you get one that goes to atleast 100psi. There's a dif between fuel injected gauge and the carbed. the pressures are totally different. at any rate ill try to find out what the stock pressure is and let you know.

Re: fuel pressure regulator

Allright cool thanks, i have no idea how to adjust the idle on my ecu either though haha and i didnt think about checking the MAF and vacuums... also, when my car gets beneath a 1/4 tank of gas it starts feeling like it wants to cut out.. could this be linked to this as well, or is this an entirely different problem? I just had the fuel pump replaced so it cant be the fuel pump.. (which is what the garage told me it was the first time and i still had problems afterwards)

Re: fuel pressure regulator

i dont know, i'd have to see the car to get a grasp on the problem. i dunno maybe you have crap at the bottom of your tank and when it gets low it's sucking that crud up into the lines.....just a thought.
