My car has 36000 miles and is only 4 years old. I got check engine light on and vehicle was not going above 30. Nissan dealer tells me that I have to Replace throttle sensor (around 250$) and the knock sensor (around 850$) costing total 1600 including service.
My vehicle is still under Powertrain warranty. Nissan and dealer are saying that these two parts does not come under Powertrain warranty. I am confused with what is actauly covered under power train warranty. My vehicle is still under Power train warranty. Thanks |

Re: Nissan Quest 2000 - Problem with Knock and Throttle Sensor
They are related components. You have engine and tranny coverage on the engine itself and all its internal parts. Hard metal only warranty is what I call it. The knock sensor is not your problem its only doing its job to detect abnormal vibrations. If you fix the so called throttle problem they are tell you it is the knock sensor will stop registering on its own. My dealer tried that BS on me and I told them to replace they knock sensor only since at the time, they said NO! I replaced the tps sensor at the dealer and the knock sensor has never been back onthru the check engine light.

Re: Re: Nissan Quest 2000 - Problem with Knock and Throttle Sensor
TPS sensor is very imprtant to how your car will run, new one has to be adjusted properly or you will get hard shifts, etc. Its only covered under 3yr 36,000 mile warranty. Not covered under powertrain warranty. The knock sensor you can live without but you will probably get pinging if you run cheap gas. The knock sensor will not set an SES light but it will store a code in memory. The intake has to come off to replace it which is a PAIN on that car.
