87 silverado won't evan turn over, battery is still good
i bought a 87 chevy silverado 1/2 ton stepside low rider w/ a TBI 350 a 2.73 LSD and a trans outa a IROC-Z/28 camaro(belltech front, custom fab. flip kit rear) on labor day from a friend of mine(it had been sitting for a year in his driveway). it was runnig pretty good, but now for some reason it won't evan turn over and i tested the battery and it's still good(i bought it when i got the truck). the fuse for the ignition is still good. one of my co-workers thought it might be the key switch that might have gone out(or something along that order). would anyone have an idea of what it might be??
thanks for your help.

Re: 87 silverado won't evan turn over, battery is still good
4 things to try. First jump across the two power lugs on your starter to see if it has power.Second you should have 3 power wires going to your starter. 1 big wire from your battery and 2 from your fuse panel and your ignition switch. The 2 from the fuse panel and ignition switch should have a white fuseable link inline close to the starter. I would turn you key on and check both sides of the link on both wires. Third make sure your battery cables are not corroded not just where they bolt to the battery. If they dont have soldered or crimped on ends you can get corrosion under the insulation on the wire and it will not carry enough ampes to your starter to turn your motor over. If the ends are bolted on to the cable i would cut the insulation open about 6 inches down the cable from the battery and see if it is corroded. If all else fails check your neutral safety switch if it's an automatic. Try turning your key to the start position as you go thru the gears.
